HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES?

The Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School and James Mackenzie, chef/owner of the Michelin-starred Pipe and Glass, have teamed up with leading supermarket Asda, Yorkshire-based farming company JSR and food supplier Cranswick plc for The Golden Apron 2017 – the search for Yorkshire’s best young chef.

After the outstanding success of the third Golden Apron competition and the subsequent launch of Golden-Apron-inspired products on ASDA shelves, we are pleased to invite entries for the 2017 competition.

Open to 14-to-19-year-olds, this exciting cookery competition aims to give inspiration to young chefs and cooks, whether they cook professionally or just for fun, as well as promoting the region's finest produce.

Competitors are asked to create a dish inspired by the theme ‘My Yorkshire’, incorporating locally sourced ingredients. The competition will culminate in a gala dinner at the Pipe and Glass - East Yorkshire’s first and only Michelin-starred restaurant - with three finalists being given the opportunity to serve their dish to up to 60 guests.

“It's been a great year and a great experience, thanks to the Golden Apron. It's given me the confidence to move down to London to work in one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, Maze. I don't think I couldn't have done it without the help of the Golden Apron competition.”
